Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have arrested businessman Kenneth Dong.
This was right after Dong appeared in the Senate investigation on Tuesday which looked into the shipment of illegal drugs worth P 6.4-billion into the country from China last May.
The shabu importation went through the so-called green lane of the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
Dong's arrest had nothing to do with the probe.
The NBI collared him based on an arrest warrant for a rape case in 2016.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Paranaque Regional Trial Court.
After the four-hour inquiry by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, officers of the Office of the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms escorted Dong out of the session hall and turned him over to the waiting NBI operatives.
