APPARENTLY, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters aren’t done shuffling in the Philippine Basketball Association.
After changing imports and surprisingly trading top gunner Jeff Chan, the Elasto Painters continued making moves and followed those up with yet another trade.
Rain or Shine traded National team pool member Mike Tolomia for fellow Gilas cadet Ed Daquioag from Meralco in a one-on-one swap. Both are rookies.
This was the Elasto Painters’ third move in a span of 24 hours as they are serious to turn their fortunes around in the ongoing Governors’ Cup where they stare at a 1-2 card.
They first shipped Chan to Phoenix for Mark Borboran and a second round pick before changing imports, replacing JD Weatherspoon with J’Nathan Bullock.
Both trade transactions were already approved by the league.
In Daquioag, the Painters get a bigger and more athletic guard that can slash and get to the hoop.
On the other end, the Bolts will have a heady point guard in Tolomia that can help lead guard Baser Amer in directing traffic for the team.
Gilas cadets aren’t allowed to be traded for two years for other players but they can be swapped directly for each other.
In an earlier trade a month ago, San Miguel and GlobalPort also swapped cadets with Arnold Van Opstal going to the Batang Pier in exchange for Von Pessumal for the Beermen.
