The suspended head of Bureau of Customs – Risk Management Office (BOC-RMO) is expected to appear in the ongoing investigation by the House Committee on Ways and Means.
RMO Head Atty. Larry Hilario was previously suspended by BOC Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon for alleged neglect of duty.
The case stems from the entry of shabu worth P 6.4 billion into the Philippines from China.
The illegal shipment supposedly passed through the green lane at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in May this year and ended up in two warehouses in Valenzuela City.
Faeldon said Hilario did not subject the cargoes to the x-ray machines.
Today's hearing is separate, although related, to Tuesday's probe by the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs on the same incident.
Lawmakers are currently grilling BOC officials led by Faeldon on the importation procedures at the NAIA.
