The Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division granted the plea of ex-senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada to temporarily leave Camp Crame in Quezon City to undergo a medical procedure.
The anti-graft court allowed Estrada to go through videocolonoscopy at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City on Thursday from 8 a.m. until July 27 at 8 a.m., and Saturday, July 29.
Earlier, Estrada, son of former President and now Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada, requested the Sandiganbayan to allow him to leave his detention facility for a medical check-up, saying his previous medical examinations proved he had “elevated levels of carcinogenic antigen, and that he was advised to undergo videocolonoscopy “at the soonest possible time.”
The anti-graft court, meanwhile, banned the younger Estrada from granting any media interview.
In 2014, the former lawmaker was arrested and detained at the Philippine National Police at Camp Crame for plunder over his alleged misuse of his P183.79-million Priority Development Assistance Fund for fake foundations in 2004 to 2012.
