Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre has ordered the return of high-profile inmates to their original detention cells in New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
This is in a bid to curb the alleged proliferation of illegal drug trade in the prison complex.
Aguirre issued the order to the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
In his letter, Aguirre instructed BuCor to enforce the transfer of high-risk inmates from Building 14 to their original cells in either the Maximum Security Compound or the Medium Security Compound.
The so-called high-risk prisoners were moved to Building 14 on December 1, 2016.
Aguirre also told BuCor to make an inventory of all inmates who were transferred to another detention facility within the NBP.
He also said, from now on, the transfer of all high-profile inmates will have to be approved by him.
