Some schools suspend classes in view of transport strike

Transport group Piston is holding a protest against the phaseout of old jeepney units.

At 9:45 am on Monday, the demonstrators rode about 20 motorcycles and jeepneys from Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City to Welcome Rotunda.

They are now holding a program at Welcome Rotunda and this event has slowed the flow of traffic in the area.

In the afternoon, the protesters will head to Mendiola in Manila.

Some schools have suspended classes to avoid being affected by the transport strike.

These schools include San Sebastian College, De La Salle University, San Beda College and Adamson University.
