NLEX Corp. said on Tuesday it opened a new southbound exit in Valenzuela City and  Meycauayan City at North Luzon Expressway in a bid to decongest vehicle traffic in these areas.

“The new Lingunan Exit aims to decongest the Valenzuela Interchange which caters to approximately 13,000 vehicles coming in and out of the City via NLEX,” Rodrigo Franco, president and chief executive of NLEX said.

“Aside from providing travel convenience, the new exit will also make the industrial hubs and subdivisions in Barangay Lingunan and nearby areas more accessible,” added Franco, citing that “motorists from the north may now take the Lingunan Exit when going to Valenzuela City instead of proceeding to Paso de Blas and Karuhatan exits,” he added.

NLEX  has undertaken the construction of the new exit in Valenzuela City along with two other exits in Meycauayan City as part of the company’s commitment to better serve expressway users.

Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian welcomed the opening of the Lingunan Exit, noting that “improvement projects like this will make the city more vibrant and more attractive to potential investors, thus greatly benefit motorists and businesses in the area.”

NLEX also opened exit ramps at the the northbound portion of Barangay Libtong and the southbound portion of Barangay Pandayan in Meycauayan as part of an enhancement program to deliver quality service to expressway users.

“The new exits hope to relieve rush hour traffic congestion at the Meycauayan Interchange,” Franco said, pointing out that “more than improving traffic flow, these new exits also aim to make commercial activities in the City more efficient.”

Vehicular traffic on both the east and west directions of the Camalig-Iba-Malhacan roads in Meycauayan has dramatically increased as the Bulacan city, which is also known for its leather and jewelry businesses, has hosted a vast number of manufacturing and industrial compounds which contribute to significant truck traffic.
