CHARLES Rhodes hopes to be back next year and play for the San Miguel Beermen again.
That’s because he played one of his best games to lead the San Miguel Beermen to the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup crown.
Big man June Mar Fajardo, a dominant figure in the Beermen’s games, did not see much action in their last finals game with the TNT Katropa.
Instead, the 6’8” Rhodes came up with a memorable performance.
He scored 20 of his 30 points in the first 24 minutes, and had 11 boards aand four blocks in 38 minutes of action.
“It was a great season. From Game 1 to the last, I played with a great group of coaches and players,” Rhodes said.
Rhodes expressed his thoughts during Wednesday’s victory party at the San Miguel Corporate Office in Mandaluyong.
For the next conference, which is the Governors’ Cup, the Beermen won’t be utilizing Rhodes.

They will shift to another import in former Rain or Shine reinforcement Wendell McKines, a 6’4” import.
This will be McKines’ third PBA team after playing for the Alaska Aces and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
On the other hand, while Rhodes sits out for a year, the Beermen says they won’t be thinking of a third title.
“Inaantay nila iyung pangatlo. Pag tatlo, Grand Slam iyun. But, we’re not thinking of a grand slam. We just want to take it one game at a time,” said SMB coach Leo Austria.
