A QUEZON City councilor on Thursday urged young entrepreneurs from the Quezon City Polytechnic University to have a passion for excellence in business instead of applying for jobs not related to their skills.
During yesterday’s QCPU business entrepreneurship grand launch, District 1 Councilor Peter Anthony “Onyx” Crisologo spoke to over 700 Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship students to encourage them to make a name for themselves.
He said there are ups and downs in running one’s business, but called on the students not to give up.
“These graduating students could not only make a name as cream-of-the-crop entrepreneurs, but could also make some serious cash and even become rich or millionaires,” Crisologo told the Manila Standard.
He said the students must keep an open mind to reach their potentials.
Entrepreneurial ventures are important to the country’s economy because they generate jobs and taxes, the councilor added.
“Entrepreneurs are the drivers behind the business growth of many giant corporations,” he said.
District 2 Rep. Alfred Vargas, president of the Junior Chamber International-QC Capitol district, tasked Crisologo to represent him during the QCPU event.
“As JCI members, we are happy to partner with QCPU. We believe in providing development opportunities that empower young people to create a positive change,” Crisologo said.
The city councilor was joined by JCI Capitol vice president Glenn Jude Rufino and fellow Jaycees Keeno Medalla Estacio, Rodney Mangalindan and Jemuel Remolona.
“I told the students if they are not ready to start their own business, there are some other ways to use their entrepreneurship degree,” Crisologo said.
