FIVE championships over the last eight conferences.

That’s what San Miguel Beer has accomplished over the last four seasons in the Philippine Basketball Association, earning them the right to be called a dynasty in this era.

Gone are the days when the franchise struggled to get over the hump despite all its talent.

Now, the Beermen have clearly resumed their winning tradition consistently and is clearly at the top of the country’s basketball echelon.

San Miguel Beer coach Leo Austria cited the biggest factors of the Beermen’s rise to the top.

“We’re so blessed. Not only with all our blessings and championships, but also with the people that compose the team,” said Austria. “Everyone in the team is selfless and that makes us even better.”

According to the player’s coach, he is also blessed to have such players who are willing to sacrifice personal things for the better of the team and more importantly, have the will to succeed.

“My players really want to win. In order to win, they know what it takes. I’m really blessed to have the kind of players that I have. These are players who sacrifice a lot for the team.”

Austria kept going and mentioned yet another reason why the Commissioner’s Cup champions continue to impose their will in the league.

“I also think our versatility as a team has a lot to do with it. We can go to June Mar (Fajardo) and work from there or we can also go to our wing players and they deliver. That’s a big advantage for us plus our ability to defend as well. Sa team na ito, marami talagang sacrificing lahat,” Austria said.

Now, San Miguel Beer has a golden opportunity to further cement its status as a dynasty as it goes for Grandslam in the season-concluding Governors’ Cup starting on July 19.
