NCAA host promises tight security

SECURITY will be tight whenever games are held inside any of the seven participating campuses of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Management Committee chairman Fr. Glynn Ortega, OAR, of host San Sebastian College, said this as the league gets ready for Season 93’s opening on July 8.

This will keep untoward incidents that involve fights among fans and students from rival schools from erupting. This also means establishing safe zones where athletes can mingle and limiting the number of visitors from other schools from coming into the home-court of the hosts and Seven schools will initially hold games inside their campuses.

Host San Sebastian College will be among those which have Friday games inside their campuses, but it will take place in their Cavite campus.

Arellano University in Legarda, Manila is another venue, along with  Letran College in Intramuros, Manila, and Emilio Aguinaldo College in San Marcelino, Manila.

There will be games at the University of Perpetual Help campus in Las Piñas.

For the elimination round, Ortega explained that they will adopt a 3-on-3 format, with three games on each of the three playdates of Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Games on Tuesdays and Thursdays are still going to be at The Arena in San Juan.

Opening day games at the Mall of Asia Arena will have host San Sebastian College going up against defending champion San Beda at 2 p.m, followed by the duel between last year’s runner-up Arellano University  and Mapua at 4 p.m.
