Foreign correspondent Adam Harvey has been hit by a shrapnel in Marawi City.

Reports said as a result, blood oozed on the left side of his neck and he is now wearing bandage and neck brace.

Harvey was at the parking lot of the Provincial Capitol in Marawi City when he was struck by shrapnel on Thursday morning.

It has yet to be known if he was hit by a bullet from a sniper belonging to Maute group or if he was hit by a stray bullet.

Gun shots could be heard across the city as fighting continues between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Maute group.

Until now, the Provincial Capitol complex is considered a safe sanctuary for government officials and mediamen covering the Marawi siege.

This is the place where news teams usually converge in the morning to plan their movements for the day.

Harvey was taking videos of children playing in the parking lot when this happened.

He is tall and he had supposedly bent down to a sitting position.

To do this, he removed his bullet-proof vest.

The shrapnel hit him just moments after he removed his vest.

The wounded correspondent told his fellow newspersons who witnessed the incident that he is alright.
