The numerous love scenes in the remake of Impostora, one of the top-rating drama series in 2007 that starred Sunshine Dizon and Iza Calzado posed a big challenge to Kris Bernal.
“As far as I can remember, I have six,” she says. “But after reading the entire script, I knew right away that there will be many intimate scenes and that they are vital to the story.”
Known for sporting a sweet image for the longest time, was it easy for her to breathe life to the character?
“Initially, I felt awkward. I guess it’s understandable since it’s something new for me. But I consider it as a challenge and as I mentioned earlier, it’s integral to the story so I will just do it.”
How daring is she in this reboot?
“Well, for one, my role here is an excellent smoker. I was nervous thinking how I can do that onscreen convincingly. Then, I should be very courageous or brave. It’s truly challenging,” Kris avers.
Many are curious if the reboot is completely faithful to the original show.
“Actually, there’s a huge twist in this new version. Of course, the dual characters of Nimfa and Rosette are there, with the former wearing prosthetics. But the plot revolves on the family more, particularly on the married couple. The remake is more dramatic and definitely offers various fresh elements that will surely delight the viewers.”
Speaking of her two characters, Kris reveals it’s not easy portraying them. In fact, she had meticulous preparations for the part. “I really sat down to list all the nuances that each should possess. I watched the original to take some pointers and I must say that Sunshine and Iza were splendid. They gave electrifying performances. Personally, I like the role of Rosette better because she is the villain. I’ve never played a bad character yet so it’s something challenging and a test to my acting skills.
“The hard part is that as Rosette, I hurt Nimfa in many scenes and I’m playing both characters. So you can just imagine how I painstakingly do each scene when the two characters interact. I shoot separately and it’s difficult since I don’t get any emotions back. But that’s the challenge there, right?”
Wearing prosthetics is also not easy.
“Imagine, the preparation takes about two hours. I should be on the set very much ahead of the official call time. It is being put and removed from my face in different sequences every taping day so there is inconvenience on my part. But as I’ve said, it is part of the task so just do it.”
The petite lass is supported by a talented cast in her latest offering.
“I’m proud and glad because GMA gave me wonderful and highly-competent co-stars who motivate and bring out the best in me in delineating such difficult roles. Ryan Eigenmann and Rafael Rosell are my two leading men in the program. Also rendering strong support are Assunta de Rossi, Aicelle Santos, Vanes del Moral, Simon Loresca, and Elizabeth Oropesa,” ends Kris.
