BPI says sorry for glitch in electronic banking service

The electronic banking system of Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) is currently experiencing an “internal data processing error.”

BPI says, as a result, “some clients may have seen their accounts debited twice or credited twice for a past transaction.”

The bank has suspended the customers’ access to electronic channels for the meantime as it is fixing the trouble.

The repairs are expected to be completed within the day.

BPI further says, the system error caused double-postings to transactions made between April 27 and May 2.

The bank is apologizing to its customers for the confusion and inconvenience in its services.
