The Sandiganbayan has issued a hold departure order (HDO) against Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Founder and Former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Nur Misuari.
This is in connection with an anomalous textbooks deal worth P 115-million in 2000 and 2001.
The HDO issued to the Bureau of Immigration was signed by the anti-graft court’s Third Division Chairperson Amparo Caboteje-Tang and Associate Justices Sarah Jane Fernandez and Bernalito Fernandez.
The HDO is in connection with graft and malversation cases filed by the Ombudsman against Misuari.
The Ombudsman had charged that Misuari and seven others committed falsification of documents to be able to award contracts without public bidding to three companies that were supposed to supply education materials to the ARMM.
The Ombudsman’s investigation showed no actual materials were produced and were, in effect, ‘ghost projects.’
