Windows smashed at Philippine casino, but no gunshots: Police

Windows were smashed on Friday at a Philippine casino complex where police were looking for a gunman who had fired an assault rifle, but there were no more gunshots, a local police officer said.

An AFP journalist initially reported gunshots were heard but a policeman on the scene later said the sound of the blasts was from the windows being smashed. The policeman could not say why the windows were smashed.

The smashing of the windows, on the second floor of the complex, occurred about five hours after a man went into Resorts World Manila and fired what police said was an M4 rifle, and then disappeared.

National police chief Ronald dela Rosa said the gunman did not shoot anyone and there were no reports of hostages. However he said the gunman disappeared into another part of the casino complex and had not been found.
