THE seven Malabon policemen who were implicated in an alleged kidnapping, extortion and planting of evidence by a lady trader surrendered to authorities days after they went on hiding.
The accused policemen yielded in two batches to Police Deputy Director General Ramon Apolinario, the deputy chief for Administration in Camp Crame, over the weekend.
PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos said the first to surrender were the five at large suspects—P03 Michael Angelo Solomon, P03 Luis Hizon Jr., P02 Michael Huerto, P01 Jovito Roque Jr., and P01 Ricky Lamsen, all of the Malabon City police station, at about 7 p.m. Friday.
Carlos said the two remaining at large police suspects—P03 Bernandino Pacoma of the Civil Security Group and SP02 Jerry dela Torre of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group voluntarily yielded at about 10:30 a.m. the following day.
The seven policemen were part of the 11 “Ninja” cops who reportedly participated in the kidnapping of a certain Norma, a businesswoman whom they demanded P5 million in exchange for her freedom after the victim was detained at the Malabon Drug Enforcement Unit last May 21.
The PNP Counter-Intelligence Task Force earlier arrested four of the suspects a day after Norma filed a complaint of kidnapping, robbery extortion and planting of evidence against the policemen.
The four arrested policemen were identified as SP02 Ricky Pelicano, P02 Wilson Sanchez, P01 Joselito Ereneo and P01 Frances Camua.
Informed on the involvement of the policemen in the case, President Rodrigo Duterte immediately offered a P2-million bounty each for the policemen in hiding.
Apolinario said the seven policemen-suspects who went into hiding for five days stayed in different parts of Metro Manila.
The suspects are now facing criminal charges for kidnapping, robbery and planting of evidence and have been placed under restricted custody of the Regional Director of the NCRPO.
