Rody, Baste to headline separate TV shows

Father-and-son President Rodrigo Duterte and Sebastian “Baste” Duterte will soon lord over the airwaves with two new programs in rival television networks to be launched in the coming days.

In a teaser released by the Presidential Communications Office on Wednesday, Duterte will headline the planned national broadcast of his TV show as erstwhile Davao mayor, now “Mula Sa Masa, Para SaMasa,” airing  “soon” to cater to a more national audience. Joining him is PTV-4’s operations chief and Malacañang reporter, Rocky Ignacio to directly  discuss his priorities and policies.

“The aim is to communicate the policies of the Duterte administration to the masses, straight from the President himself,” Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said.

An offshoot government tabloid, named “Masa” is being distributed bi-monthly for free through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), an attached agency under the PCOO.

Meanwhile, presidential son “Baste” Duterte will host a travel show, “Lakbai” along with Youtube sensation Bogart the Explorer, himself a Davaoeno set to launch on May 21 (Sunday) over TV5.

Lakbai is a play on the Tagalog word “Lakbay” which means “Travel” in English.

It is also the condensed form of “Lakaw Ta Bai” a Davaoeno statement which translates to “Lakad na, kaibigan” in Tagalog or “Tara Na!” in Filipino slang.

The program will explore the camaraderie, adventures (and misadventures) between the show’s LAKBAI biyaheros as they experience the most exciting places in the Philippines and its many different culture, the show’s producers said.
