Manila Electric Co. through joint venture Pure Meridian Hydropower Corp. recently broke ground for its three-megawatt run of river hydro project in Lalawinan, Quezon province.
The project is in partnership with Repower Energy Development Corp., a unit of Pure Energy Holdings Corp.,
Pure Meridian chairman Alfredo Panlilio said in a statement it was the second project under the partnership with Meralco. Panlilio is also senior vice president of Meralco, the country’s biggest power distributor.
Pure Meridian also held the groundbreaking for the Pulanai mini-hydro project in Bukidnon in December.
“We reiterate our earlier pronouncement that our investments in the various run-of-river mini hydro projects are a manifestation of our unwavering commitment to support the development of the renewable energy sector,” Panlilio said.
