Court finds 11 Manila officials guilty over failure to file SALNs

Eleven barangay officials have been found by the Manila Metropolitan Trial Court (MMTC) guilty of violating the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

The cases stem from the local executives’ failure to file their Statements of Assets and Liabilities (SALN) 30 days after they assumed their elective positions.

Barangay Captain Jose Cayanan of District Four in Sampaloc, Manila led the list of respondents.

The officials failed to file their SALNs from 2009 to 2011.

Republic Act 6713 states that public officials guilty of failure to submit SALNs may be penalized with imprisonment of not more than five years or fine not exceeding P 5,000 or both.
