Duterte made the announcement this afternoon during his departure speech at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

He is off to Cambodia to attend the World Economic Forum tomorrow.

Duterte has repeatedly said he would appoint Cayetano to the DFA post after the one-year election ban for defeated candidates in the 2016 elections lapses.

Meanwhile, the President also said Armed Forces Chief General Eduardo Ano will assume the post of Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government once he retires from the military's top post in October.

Margaux "Mocha" Justiniano Uson has also been appointed Assistant Secretary at the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
