American pedophile nabbed in Batangas

An American pedophile wanted by US authorities for engaging in child pornography in Texas was nabbed by Philippine immigration agents in Batangas province.

The suspect, identified as Christopher Wayne Walker, was arrested at his home in Barangay Darasa, Tanauan City, Batangas by operatives of the Bureau of Immigration’s Fugitive Search Unit.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the US Embassy in Manila sought the help of the BI for the arrest of Walker, who fled the US to escape prosecution.

Walker faces outstanding arrest warrants issued by courts in Burnet County and Bend County in Texas, where he was charged with jumping bail and promoting child pornography, respectively.

“The BI board of commissioners already issued a summary deportation order against Walker last April 23 for posing a risk to public safety,” Morente said.

The deportation order, he said, was also issued because of Walker’s status as an undocumented alien, which stemmed from the cancellation of his passport by the US government.

Under the law, an alien whose passport was revoked automatically loses his privilege to stay in the country.

The American is now detained at the BI facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City. He has been placed in the immigration blacklist and banned from reentering the Philippines.
