Bill making passports valid for a decade nears enactment

The measure seeking to extend to 10 years the validity of Philippine passports is nearing enactment.

This comes, after the Senate approved on second reading Senate Bill 1365.

The bill is an amendment to the Philippine Passport Act which was passed eleven years ago.

Passports for persons who are 18 years old and under, however, will only be effective for 5 years.

Nine senators are named authors of the measure.

Two months ago, the House of Representatives passed the same bill on third and final reading.
