DICT launched the GovCloud service under the Integrated Government Philippines (iGovPhil) project on March 28, 2017 at Novotel, Cubao, Quezon City.

DICT’s first signature project, GovCloud is a public service cloud infrastructure designed to reduce the cost of government technology solution, boost employee productivity, and improve online services. This project is in accordance with DICT Circular No. 2017-002, which encourages all state departments, offices, and agencies to adopt the Cloud First Policy and take advantage of scalable, on-demand cloud computing that can better serve citizens who have already embraced a digital lifestyle.

“Microsoft welcomes the Cloud First Policy and the DICT launch of the GovCloud. Advances in cloud computing has already been part of our signed 2016 manifesto with the DICT entitled, 'Shared Prosperity: An ICT Manifesto for the Philippines in 2016 and Beyond,'” said Microsoft Managing Director Karrie Ilagan.

Vibal and Microsoft have been official partners since 2012, when Vibal made available its interactive e-books compatible to Windows OS.

“Microsoft is proud to partner with Vibal and the DICT in delivering the benefits of cloud technology to the Philippine government, and thereby empowering the government to better serve the entire Filipino citizenry with faster, more efficient and more secure services. We believe that Microsoft’s strength and commitment to security, privacy and transparency will empower the government to achieve the best for our citizens,” Ilagan added.
