The Transportation Department said it plans to remove Davao International Airport from the list of provincial airports the government is bidding out under the public-private-partnership program.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade told reporters the agency was studying the possibility to remove the P40.57-billion Davao International Airport from the list of the unbundled provincial airports under PPP.

Tugade said the government might pursue the expansion of the Davao airport and bid out the operation and maintenance to private sector.  The DOTr  earlier moved the  submission of qualification documents for unbundled provincial airports to June 15 from May 1.

The government is bidding out the five regional airports separately after the National Economic and Development Authority board approved on Nov. 14, 2016 the unbundling of the airport public-private partnership deals.
