QUEZON City Mayor Herbert Bautista vowed on Thursday to intensify the delivery of basic health-care programs and services to residents by building more health infrastructure.

As of March 31, the engineering department reported that Quezon City has already completed the construction and rehabilitation of six health facilities, while four other projects are now being built.

Completed were the three-story Kalayaan Health Center in Barangay Dona Imelda; improvement of the Batasan Hills Super Health Center; rehabilitation of the Sta. Catalina Health Center and renovation of the Betty Go-Belmonte lying-in clinic, both in Barangay Hoy Spirit; the new service entrance for the San Vicente Sentrong Sigla Health Center; and land development at Balonbato Health Center.

The city government spent P9.4 million for the Kalayaan health center and P4.9 million for the Sta. Catalina facility.

Also underway are the Payatas Super Health Center, which will cost the city government P12.6 million; the improvement of the Bagong Silangan Super Health Center; and construction of diagnostic laboratory clinics at Apolonio Samson and Kamuning Health Centers.

Quezon City also maintains seven super health centers and lying-in clinics and three social hygiene clinics.

Bautista rallied city residents to take advantage of the health services that will be offered by the Kalayaan Health Center, which the mayor described as a “big boost” to the city’s health care program, especially to underprivileged residents of Barangay Dona Imelda and its adjacent barangays.

Expansion of the city health services include the acquisition of additional laboratory testing facilities, hiring of pathologists, and the construction of additional health centers.

“The city government is ready to expand the services extended by the city health centers,” he said.
