Several labor organizations are staging different protest activities in Metro Manila.
Members of the urban poor group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) marched from Agham Road to Mabuhay Welcome Rotunda in Quezon City.
They will proceed to Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.
Kadamay members are seeking to stop the practice of ‘end-of-contract’ scheme or ENDO by many establishments.
They are also asking for a minimum wage increase and housing.
Meanwhile, another group, the Democratic Alliance Movement of the Philippines International, assembled at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.
They are criticizing the so-called extrajudicial killings and the lowering of the age of criminal liability from 15 years old to 9 years old.
Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) members, on the other hand, are holding a rally near the LRT Station along Taft Avenue in Manila.
They say, abuses stemming from ‘endo’ continue to plague the labor sector.
At noon, the group will march towards the United States Embassy before proceeding to Liwasang Bonifacio.
In Makati City, a group of call center agents are holding a demonstration.
They call themselves “Bayaning Puyat.”
Most of the protesters will converge at Mendiola near Malacañang in Manila later in the afternoon.
