Malacañang is awaiting the visit of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah today.
Red carpet has been rolled out in the palace for the bilateral talks between President Rodrigo Duterte and Brunei’s leader.
The two heads of state are set to talk about stronger defense cooperation to fight terrorism, sea piracy and Brunei’s support for the peace process in Mindanao.
Bolkiah arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 6:45 pm on Wednesday.
He is the second head of state to come over since the January visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Bolkiah’s state visit will last until Friday.
He will join also nine other heads of state in the ASEAN Leaders’ Summit on Saturday.
