Suson, Cari lead net winners

MARC Nicole Suson from Cebu City continued his winning ways in the Baybay City leg in Leyte of the Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group tennis Championship Series, while local player Anica Giorgia Cari matched his feat in the girls’ side with both players ruling the 16-under and 18-under categories in their division.

Suson was unstoppable in both finals, beating the same opponent in Stephen Zion Guia with ease.

He won the 16-under with a  6-1, 6-0 victory and duplicated the feat in the 18-under finals with the same score.

On the other hand, Cari disposed of another local bet Mariniel Gorgonio in the same fashion, winning, 7-5, 6-0, in the 16-under championship match before repeating against the same foe, 6-1, 6-0 in the 18-under finals of the tournament supported by Dunlop as the official ball.

“Suson  is playing consistently  at  a high level and it will be sooner than later that he makes  his mark at the national level,” said Jean Henri Lhuillier, President /CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier.

The other winners in the boys’ side were Zamboanga del Norte’s Aaron Jacque Geromo in the 14-under after defeating Ashton Benne Villanueva from Ozamis City, 6-3, 7-5; Leyte bet Sal Andrie Eugenio in the 12-under as he overwhelmed Maasin’s Ruzzel Bert Manlimos, 6-2, 6-1, in their championship meeting; and local player Manuel Jocson blanked Ormoc City’s Benedicto Lambonao for the 10-under crown.

In the distaff side, Selena Monique Olo from Sogod, Leyte had a three-set victory over local bet Aliyah Bandalan, 7-6, 9-7, 6-3, for the 14-under title, while Aeesha Bandalan, also from Baybay, copped the 12-under title with another three-set win over Sogod’s Neous Elna Beronio, 7-5, 1-6, 10-8.

Siblings Aeesha and Aliyah Bandalan teamed up to win the girls’ 16-under, beating Beronio and Olo, 8-7; Cari partnered with Ma. Melrose Duran for her third title as the duo vanquished Giorgonio and Katrina Lufranco, 8-5.

Unfamiliar names ruled in the boys’ side with Johwee Sam Bernales  and Paulo Loreto edging out  Jules Cari and Joshua Ramon Torres, 8-6, to take the 18-under crown, while JM Basala and Franco Nero Nunez posted an 8-6 win over  Villanueva and Geromo for the 14-under doubles’ title.
