Ambassador Marciano Paynor Jr., Director-General for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) 2017 National Organizing Council, has outlined the activities for the ASEAN Summit this April.
Paynor spoke in a press briefing in Malacañang.
The series of activities for the ASEAN Summit involve a total of 137 meetings, two summits, 17 ministerial meetings, 42 senior officials’ meetings and 76 meetings of technical working groups.
One of these events has kicked off today in Bohol.
This is the 10th ASEAN and Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement (AHKFTA) Trade Negotiating Committee.
The meeting, sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry, is being held at the Henann Resort in Panglao Island.
It will last until Saturday.
The ASEAN Summit this month coincides with President Rodrigo Duterte’s bilateral meetings with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.
The 30th ASEAN Summit is on April 26 to 29 while the 31st ASEAN Summit is on November 10 to 14 in Clark, Pampanga.
