Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. is set to start the construction of a P12-billion bulk water project in Davao City in July this year.
AEV chief finance officer Manuel Lozano said the company already secured funding for the project and was just waiting to for the permits needed to start its implementation. Construction is expected to take two-and-a-half years.
“We hope to start delivering water by 2019,” Lozano said.
AEV teamed up with J.V. Angeles Construction Corp. to undertake the project.
Under the plan, the joint venture partners will supply up to 300 million liters per day of potable bulk water from Tamugan River to Davao City Water District, which will benefit more than 1 million people of the city.
The project will be the country’s largest private bulk water supply facility with a renewable energy-powered water treatment plant.
JVACC will be the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the entire project.
JVACC is one of the leading contractors in the Philippines with over 48 years of experience in construction and development of water-related infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Lozano said AEV unit Aseagas Corp. was looking to start commercial operations of an 8.8-megawatt biomass power plant in Batangas province by the second quarter of 2017.
The project in Sitio Hermosa, Malaruhatan, Lian, Batangas utilizes organic wastes.
