DAVAO CITY—Mayor Sara Duterte has directed newly installed Davao City Police Director Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum to do his job properly in putting order and implementing the laws in the city.
“I just told him to do his job and not to listen to anyone. I told him that he just needs to do his duties and responsibilities as our City Director and to cascade it to his men,” the mayor said.
She said she already reminded Tagum of the usual crimes in the city like theft, especially since the Lenten session is just around the corner.
Duterte said Tagum already has some plans on the perennial problems of the city like theft and even gang wars.
She then instructed the police chief to work hand in hand with the city’s Vices Regulation Unit to monitor the anti-smoking ordinance, liquor ban and selling liquors to minors.
Tagum assured the mayor he will do his best to maintain order in the city and ensured her that he will put the right person to their right job by determining the capabilities of his personnel.
“I believe that the right person to the right job will be assigned to their position I would like to assure you that the select officers will only be the station commanders,” Tagum said.
Tagum had served as the provincial police director of Abra and North Cotabato, but was relieved of his post due to the bloody Kidapawan City dispersal last year.
