DAVIS Cup bet Francis Casey Alcantara and Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Lock reached the men’s doubles finals of the $15,000 Bahrain Futures.
They put up a good fight, but eventually took a 3-6, 1-6 loss to the top-ranked pair Markus Eriksson and Milos Sekulic.
Alcantara and Lock made it to the championship round after beating third seeds Sanjar Fayziev and Shonignatjon Shofayziyev of Uzbekistan, 7-6(2), 6-0, in the semifinals.
They earlier eased out second seeds Anis Ghorbel of Tunisia and Jorge Montero of Chile, 6-1, 6-2, in the quarterfinal.
Meanwhile, the Philippines absorbed a 0-3 loss to Korea in Group A in the ongoing World Juniors Tennis Championship Asia/Oceania Final Qualifying tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.
Boyoung Jeong shut out Ma. Carmencita Carlos in the first singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Then, Yeonwoo Ku gave Korea its second win–a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Alexandra Eala.
Jeong and Ku ended it by by turning back Carlos and Eala in the doubles, 6-1, 6-0.
The Philippines is set to meet India in its next game.
