The Quezon City policeman who was caught on CCTV footage mauling a marine engineer over a traffic argument is set to be brought to the PNP Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Chief Inspector Melvin Madrona, who is based in Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 5 in Fairview, reported to QCPD Director Guillermo Eleazar on Monday morning.
Eleazar told him that he had to stay at the PNP Headquarters Support Services in Camp Crame pending the hearing on the criminal and administrative charges against him.
The instruction for Madrona’s transfer came from PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa.
Madrona had also surrendered his service firearm.
Charges for physical injuries, arbitrary detention, grave threat and grave coercion have been referred to the Quezon City prosecutor’s office against the cop.
Madrona was earlier relieved from his post by the PNP-Counter Intelligence Task Force following the incident.
He may face dismissal if he is found guilty in the administrative cases filed against him.
