The Metro Manila Development Authority has resumed its campaign against illegally parked vehicles and other obstructions on secondary roads following the directives of the Metro Manila Council in preparation for the possible enforcement of stricter measures to ease traffic in the metropolis.

Members of MMDA’s Anti-Illegal Parking and Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group continuously clear the Scout Triangle, National Irrigation Administration area and Agham Roads in Quezon City of illegally-parked vehicles and other road obstructions.

The team conducted the operations in close coordination with the Quezon City’s Department of Public Order and Safety and the Police-Highway Patrol Group.

The latest operation resulted in the towing of 86 illegally parked vehicles, including tricycles, public utility jeepneys and motorcycles.

The move came after members of the MMC, the governing board and the policy-making body of the MMDA, rejected the proposed implementation of the modified odd-even scheme and suggested that the agency should clear first all secondary roads in the National Capital Region.
