Another Fil-Am makes it through ‘The Voice USA’ Blind audition

After Anatalia Villaranda’s trending blind audition in the hit US TV show, The Voice, another Filipino-American made it through the reality singing competition’s blind audition.

In the latest episode, 22-year-old Gaby Borromeo performed Leona Lewis’s “Happy” causing coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton to turn their chairs for her.

At the end of her song, the Maroon 5 front man quickly gave the young singer a hug as he went up onstage to commend her performance.

“I’m very surprised this is not a four-chair turn. Correct me if I’m wrong but when you started singing you seemed like you were nervous. But then as the song progressed, you came through in a way that just blew my mind. You’re unbelievable and you belong on my team,” Levine commented.

On the other hand, Shelton had similar praise for Borromeo, and even went as far as to agree with his rival coach that Borromeo could win the popular singing contest. “It would be a shame to see somebody screw that up for you like Adam,” Shelton said.

Originally from Seattle before she moved to New York when she was 15 to pursue a career in music, Borromeo expressed her excitement over Twitter after the telecast of her performance. Soon enough, fans started to ask about her nationality. In one of her responses, Gaby said she is proud to be representing the Philippines.
