Female railway workers marked International Women's Day in Argentina on Wednesday with a protest demanding the opportunity to drive trains.
Monica Schlotthauer, a union delegate, said workers petitioned the Sarmiento train line to make women eligible for promotion to train engineer.
"This is only, or one of the few, countries left in the world where women can't drive trains," she said.
The women railroad workers carried signs and chanted in protest against sex discrimination in the country's mainly male-run railroads.
Julieta Bacchili, a protester, said driving trains "isn't a matter of having ovaries or testicles. It's about having ability and brains, which all of us, men and women, have."
