Meralco raises electricity bills this March

The Deparment of Energy and power distributor MERALCO announced in a press conference an increase in the electric bill for this month.

The shutdown of Malampaya gas fields off the coast of Palawan is being cited as reason.

MERALCO Spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga says, the increase will amount to 66 centavos per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

This adjustment will be reflected in the billing of Meralco customers in March.

Households consuming an average of 200 kWh each month will pay an additional amount of P 132.

Residents consuming about 300 kWh monthly will pay an additional P 198.

P 264 will be added to the bill of households consuming about 400 kWh a month.

Those who are consuming about 500 kWh monthly will pay an additional amount of P 313.
