Cebu Pacific said Friday passenger volume increased 5 percent in January from a year ago, amid domestic route expansion.
Data from Cebu Pacific showed the budget carrier carried 1.72 million passengers in January this year, up from 1.64 million passengers in the same period in 2016.
The airline’s load factor, however, fell 1.5 percentage points to 85 percent in January from last year’s 86.5 percent.
The airline posted a 4-percent growth in passenger to 19.1 million from 18.4 million in 2015.
The airline, owned by tycoon John Gokongwei, said the growth in passenger volume was largely driven by low-cost short-haul services and increased frequencies in key domestic markets.
Cebu Pacific currently offers flights to 37 domestic and 29 international destinations, operating an extensive network across Asia, Australia, the Middle East and the US.
Its 58-strong fleet is comprised of four Airbus A319, 36 Airbus A320, seven Airbus A330, eight ATR 72-500 and three ATR 72-600 aircraft.
Cebu Pacific expects delivery of one more brand-new Airbus A330, 32 Airbus A321neo and 13 ATR 72-600 aircraft between 2017 and 2021.
Cebu Pacific earlier reported a net income of P7.09 billion in January to September or double the P3.56 -billion profit it declared in the same period in 2015.
Revenues went up 10.5 percent to P46.69 billion from P42.30 billion in 2015.
