Trending Pinoy covers of ‘Versace on the Floor’

Halle Berry shared a clip showing her glamorous feature as she strips of her Versace gown and jumping into a pool. Take note, the post-Oscars video is in slow motion and Bruno Mars’s hit “Versace on the Floor” is playing in the background.

“Versace on the Floor” is definitely a worldwide hit that even Hollywood stars have been caught humming the sensual ditty. The song is part of the Mars’s third studio album 24K Magic and serves as the first promotional single when it was released in November.

Rolling Stone describes the song as a shimmery ode to the champagne flutes and rose petal-romance of Philly soul bands like the Stylistics while it distractingly borrows from the 90s sound of Selena’s “Dreaming of You” and Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.”

But to everyone who’s got hypnotized by the LSS-inducing song, it is nothing but the anthem of 2017, and no song has come close to challenge it thus far. Without a doubt “Versace on the Floor” has taken the entire music world by storm. And of course when we talk about global trends, Pinoy would definitely come up with their own version of any hit.

Here’s a list of local “Versace” covers that immediately became viral as soon as they hit the World Wide Web:

Makisig Morales

His rendition of the sensual ballad has garnered more than a million views on YouTube since it was uploaded a week ago.

The former Super Inggo has found a way to reconnect with his fans. Via his YouTube channel, he performs any song requested by his followers. And you bet, “Versace on the Floor” was a fan request before it became a trending video.

Kris Lawrence

The R&B singer effortlessly delivered his rendition of the popular song during a live performance on Wish 107.5. Lawrence received overwhelming praises from netizens for his powerful and on-point performance of Bruno Mars’ mega hit.

The “Wishclusive” video, uploaded on YouTube on Feb. 20, already garnered more than half two million views as of this writing. And with his highly lauded performance, he’s now being called the country’s Bruno Mars.

Zeus Collins

While most local singers have come up with their version of the Bruno Mar’s hit, the Hashtags member did something different but equally entertaining.

Zeus uploaded a dance cover of the song on his Facebook page on Saturday. The video easily became viral with over a million views and more than 21,000 shares in a day. His followers could not get enough of it. They have nothing but good words and praises for the dancer.

Kristel Fulgar

Also on Facebook, the former Goin’ Bulilit cast member uploaded a stripped-down version of the hit single. It was viewed more than a million times and shared by thousands within just 24 hours. As of this writing, the original video has more than 4 million views.

This is not the first time Fulgar came up with a trending video. She’s been known off late for doing an acoustic version of popular songs.
