Two suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) are killed in an encounter with soldiers from the Philippine Air Force (PAF) in Batangas.
The military conducted an operation in Barangay Lumaniag, Lian, Batangas, based on the information on the presence of alleged communist rebels in the area.

The rebels were reportedly conducting extortion activities.
Government troops and about 15 NPAs fought for about 15 minutes at dawn on Monday.
The two bodies of the suspected rebels were found following the clash.
Three high-powered firearms were also recovered from the battle.
