Quezon City is moving for the enrollment of the members of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations in the city to the sponsored program component of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. or PhilHealth.
City Resolution 6960, principally authored by Councilor Allan Butch T. Francisco, highlights the city government’s commitment to provide its residents, especially the poor, access to quality medical and health care services.
Before the resolution’s approval, the QC government, through the city’s Social Services Development Department, has already included Toda members for coverage to Philhealth-sponsored programs.
In 2016, the QC government set aside P120 million to cover the PhilHealth enrollment of some 50,000 beneficiaries to the sponsorship program, which include contractual employees of the QC Hall, barangay officials, solo parents, persons with disabilities, and children in conflict with the law.
Of the total 50,000 target beneficiaries, the city has served 42,700 clients, including some 19,251 indigent clients; 3,726 contractual employees; 3,269 TODA members; 9,657 solo parents; 4,858 PWDs and 443 children in conflict with the law.
To date, Quezon City leads local government units in the number of beneficiaries enroled to the PhilHealth-sponsored program.
Pursuant to the National Health Insurance Act of 1995, all Filipino citizens are required to enroll in the National Health Insurance Program.
