Some transport groups are holding a strike on Monday, February 27, 2017.

This is to protest the phase out of old jeepney units.

Transport group PISTON is leading the protest.

PISTON President  George San Mateo says, they will be joined by other organizations like the Stop and Go transport coalition.

San Mateo says, the strike will paralyze public transportation in major routes such as Monumento, Alabang, Baclaran, Cubao, Marikina and Taytay.

He claims, the same strike will be held in the provinces.

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Board Member Aileen Lizada downplays the effect of transport strikes.

She says, in the last protest held by militant transport organizations, only .3% of public transportation was affected.
