Jamby Madrigal seeks public apology from Aguirre

Former Senator Jamby Madrigal is demanding a public apology from Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre.

This comes, after Aguirre claimed that Madrigal and Laguna Representative Marlyn Alonte-Naguiat attempted to bribe some high-profile inmates of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) so that they would supposedly withdraw their testimonies against Senator Leila De Lima.

Aguirre had said, Madrigal was offering a bribe amounting to about P 100 million to the NBP inmates detained at the Armed Forces Custodial Center in Camp Aguinaldo.

Madrigal is in Europe right now.

She said she is leading a quiet life as a private citizen.

She urged Aguirre from refrain from dragging her into political mudslinging.

Aguirre had said Alonte-Naguit had called up the inmates through a certain Lalaine Madrigal-Martines, whom the justice secretary claimed was a kin of the former senator and wife of convicted kidnapper Noel Martines.

The former senator denies knowing Lalaine Madrigal-Martines.

Aguirre also reported that Lalaine Martines’ car was ambushed on Friday morning.

For her part, Alonte-Naguiat has also denied involvement in the alleged bribe try.

She said she does not know any of the inmates and their family members.
