Caraga rescue teams deploy

Mining firms in the Caraga Region have sent emergency response teams (ERTs) to Surigao City, the area hardest hit by the magnitude 6.7 that struck the region Friday night (Feb. 10).

Companies that have sent ERTs are Marcventures Mining and Development Corp., Hinatuan Mining Corp., Taganito Mining Corp., CTP Mining and Construction, ADNAMA Mining Corp., supported by the Caraga Chamber of Mines and in coordination with the Philipine Mine Safety and Environment Association.

TO THE RESCUE.  Marcventures Mining and Development Corp. personnel  embark on rescue missions while other distribute water and hand out medicines for the  hundreds of earthquake evacuees in Brgy. Lipata, Surigao City.

For its part, Greenstone Resources Corp. brought fire trucks and ambulances, as well as civil engineers to help in assessing the integrity of buildings in the city.  Silangan Mindanao Mining has also deployed fire trucks and first aid teams, while the Platinum Group Metals Corp. has flown drones to help in the real-time assessment of the earthquake damage.

Meanwhile,  Philsaga, OceanaGold, Lepanto and Philex mining  are on stand by, ready to augment and support their colleagues in this humanitarian effort.

Despite some of them being in the list of companies ordered closed or suspended by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, these miners have opted to share their expertise and resources to serve and save lives.
