The Sandiganbayan has issued a Hold Departure Order (HDO) against dismissed Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Alan Purisima and Former PNP-Special Action Force (SAF) Commander Getulio Napeñas.
The order prevents them from travelling overseas.
The HDO states, “the Bureau of Immigration (BI) is directed to bar/prohibit Purisima and Napeñas from leaving the Philippines for any destination abroad.”
It is also requiring BI to report its compliance within 15 days.
The order was released by the anti-graft court’s fourth division chaired by Justice Alex Quiroz.
Purisima and Napeñas are facing charges of usurpation of authority and violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
The cases are in connection with the botched Mamasapano operations in Maguindanao that resulted in the death of 44 elite SAF troopers on January 25, 2015.
