Police and representatives from the legal department of the Social Security System (SSS) went to the house of dermatology clinic owner Joel Mendez in a bid to arrest him.
But they failed to find the doctor in his home in Barangay Talipapa, Quezon City since he is reportedly in the province.
Mendez owns Weigh Less Center in Farmer’s Plaza in Cubao, Quezon City.
His arrest warrant issued by Quezon City Regional Trial Court is in connection with his alleged failure to remit nearly P2 million in SSS contributions of his employees.
Mendez’ case relates to violation of the SSS Act of 1997 and it carries a jail term of six to seven years.
The doctor had wanted to resolve the case out of court and he had posted bail worth P24,000.
But when he and his counsel failed to attend the hearings, the court forfeited the bail bond and issued an arrest warrant.
