THE AFP Cavaliers, the Malacañang Kamao and the PNP Responders–these are the three teams already guaranteed a ticket to the quarterfinal round of the UNTV Cup.

One more team will complete that list.

The BFP Firefighters and the NHA Builders dispute that last slot at the UNTV Cup hardcourt at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Pasig City Sports Center. The Firefighters (5-4) must be able to extinguish the Builders to be guaranteed of the ticket.

“Paghahandaan pa namin ‘yung offense at defense namin,” said coach Ramon Garcia.

BFP is expecting relevant contributions in all departments from Ryan Anthony Lim, (center) brother of the PBA Legend Samboy ‘The Skywalker’ Lim, on Sunday as they need to defeat the NHA Builders to get the last UNTV Cup quarterfinals slot.

However, should the green and white jersey beat the Firemen, the two sides will have another faceoff to decide which team wins or goes home.

NHA Builders Head Coach Silverio “Bennett” Palad III confessed: “Kailangan naming bumawi sa next game, kailangan naming manalo. Actually, kailangan ko na lang i-condition ang mga utak nila, ‘yun na lang ang problema.”

In the second game, the PNP Responders (7-2) take on Malacañang Kamao (6-3). Whatever the result of this bout, both of them still get a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

The next stage of the league starts on Feb. 5, showcasing PNP, Malacañang, AFP and the winner of NHA-BFP match.

Sunday’s games will be aired live on UNTV starting at 3 p.m., with live streaming via www.untvweb.com.
