The House of Representatives is set to conduct an investigation into the contract wherein the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) supposedly gave a private company permission to build a casino complex at the back of Museo Pambata in Ermita, Manila.
Resolutions seeking a probe into the deal were filed by Pampanga Fourth District Representative Juan Pablo Bondoc and Ang Edukasyon Party-list Representative Salvador Belaro Jr.
Casino developer Vanderwood Management Corporation had applied for lease and bagged a 15-year contract with PAGCOR.
Lawmakers are questioning the alleged irregularities that characterized the bidding for the project.
For his part, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada had said, he had not given a permit to Vanderwood to run a casino at the Bay area.
Manila City Hall is determing whether or not violations were committed when the site was leased from PAGCOR.
