FIL-AMERICAN Treat Huey and Belarusian Max Mirnyi engaged Australian foes Sam Grother and Chris Guccione to a close fight in the second round of the 2017 Australian Open Tennis Championships men’s doubles in Melbourne Park.

But their foes pounced on their errors in the tiebreak, allowing Groth and Guccione to prevail with a 7-6 (10), 7-6 (5) win.

It took Groth and Guccione one hour and 54 minutes to ease out Huey and Mirnyi with their power serves.

Huey and Mirnyi were ahead 5-2, when Groth and Guccione stepped up and unleashed two volley winners to catch up, 5-4.

The Australian then took the match and the set when Huey and Mirnyi fell into a maze of errors with their forehand volleys.

In all, the Australians unleashed 17 points to their rivals’ nine and also scored points on 58 winners.
